Speech Topic: Wash your new clothes before you wear them
1. Audience attitude:
I find that many people do not wash their new clothes before wear them. They like to put them on directly because they think it does not matter. Some of people do mind that others may try it on before, but they are just lazy to wash it. Only a few of people wash new clothes before they wear them. I want to give my audience more information about what chemicals exist on new clothes, and how do the chemicals do to our health. And let my audience know it is a better way to wash new clothes.
2. Reasons:
In order to convince my audience, I will focus on introducing chemicals on clothes, its purpose and disadvantages. Besides, I will also inform them that we never know how many people had tried the clothes on before.
3. Selecting an organization to meet audience needs:
Because most of people think it does not matter or feel lazy to wash, I will strengthen on that new clothes seemed so clean but actually, hide the chemicals which would harm people. Besides, I will offer some unease which would happen to make them pay attention to it. I think this kind of organization will make my audience clearly about the disadvantages of not washing new clothes.
Outline
Speech goal: I want to convince my audience they should wash new clothes once before they wear them.
Introduction:
I. We buy new clothes in daily life, say, a class T-shirt, nice pants as present or a heavy coat for the winter.
II. Will you wash them once before wear them, after buying new clothes?
III. Do you think it does not matter whether if new clothes should be washed before you wear them?
IV. I asked ten people around me if they wash new clothes before wearing them, and the result becomes that up to seven people do not wash their new clothes.
Thesis statement: The major reason for washing new clothes is to remove the chemical on them. Besides, we never know how many people had tried the clothes on before we buy them.
Body
I. Chemicals on clothes harm people.
A. Clothes may contain chemicals like Formaldehyde, or dye.
B. Formaldehyde that keeps clothes wrinkle free, disinfected that manufactures put on clothes is considered a cancer causing agent.
C. Excess dye on clothes can come off onto people's skin and harm people.
II. We do not know how many had tried the clothes on.
A. New clothes we buy are likely to be tried on before.
B. We never know how other people's personal hygiene is who had tried the clothes on.
III. You may feel uncomfortable without washing new clothes.
A. Exposure to these chemicals on clothes may cause rashes, and other allergic reactions to eyes and skin.
B. Exposure to these chemicals may also cause respiratory problems.
Conclusion:
I. I strongly recommend you to wash new clothes before you wear them.
II. Washing new clothes can reduce those chemicals, making you feel carefree.
III. It won't take you too much time but protect you away from carcinogen. So wash your new clothes.

Title: To know where your basic shapes of eyebrows are and its benefits

 

Speaking directly to members of the audience:

Throughout the speech, I will talk directly to my audience. I will use "you" to send my message directly.

 

Building credibility:

I will show audience how to measure basic shape of eyebrows on face that I learned from a cosmetics class. Then, talk about groomed brows' benefits.

 

Getting and maintaining interest:

I will emphasize how much attention groomed eyebrows get nowadays to arouse audience's interest. Then, I will go over steps slowly and carefully to make them understand.

 

Facilitating understanding:

I will use PowerPoint as my visual aid to present tips to help audience understand the steps to have basic shape brows. It will help them understand steps clearly and remember steps.

 

Increasing retention:

I will repeat and emphasize those steps. With the visual aid, audience will memorize the simple steps I mention in my speech.

 

Outline

Speech goal:

I want my audience to know how to measure basic shape of eyebrows on their own faces, and power of having basic shape eyebrows.

 

Introduction:

I.            Properly shape of eyebrows gets more attention in Taiwan nowadays.

A.     Groomed brows heightening the beauty of eyes.

B.     Knowing basic shape of groomed brows becomes the first step.

C.     Groomed brows make people look delicate.

 

Thesis statement:

There are three steps to know where your basic shapes of eyebrow are and the benefits of having basic shape of eyebrows.

 

Body:

II.         To have basic shape of eyebrows, there three steps.

A.     Step one, take a long eye shadow brush or a pencil and hold it parallel to the side of your nose. The eyebrows should begin where the brush meets eyebrows.

B.     Step two, to have a slight arch, hold the brush parallel to the outside edge of your iris. Where the brush meets the brow is the highest part of your brow.

C.     Step three, to find the end of your brows, hold the brush from your nostril to the outside of your eye. Where the brush hits is the end of your brow.

 

III.       What are benefits of basic shape eyebrows?

A.     Let eye zone look brighter.

B.     Makes face become neat energetic one.

 

Conclusion:

IV.      Have basic eyebrows and develop your own beauty.

A.     Three simple steps bring you a different face.

B.     Following tips above, start to have delicate and charming face.

Audience Adaptation Plan
Topic: My experience of playing volleyball
1. How relevant will the audience find this material to be?
My audience can know more about my experience of playing volleyball through this speech.
2. How can I make it easier for audience members to comprehend the information I will share?
I will take my experience of attending volleyball matches for example. My audience can know clearly about the message I try to express.
3. What common ground do audience members share with each other and with me?
From elementary school to university, we students have many chances to play ball games or join a team to race with others. Hence, my audience will find the topic is close to them. For we may all have the same kind of experience.
4. What I can do to enhance my credibility?
I will offer my personal experience as an example and speak it t in a sincere voice.
5. What is my audience's initial attitude toward my speech topic likely to be?
My audience may wonder if anything interesting happened when I was playing volleyball.
6. What language or culture differences do audience members have with each other and with me?
I will share my topic in English which is our second language. To express myself clear, I will use plain English and try to make my speech fluent and accurate. Then, audience can receive my message well.
Speech Outline
Specific goal:
I would like to share my experience of playing volleyball when I was in high school.
Introduction:
I. I think that some people have interest in at least one exercise. For me, it is volleyball.
II. Expect for sweating whole body, exercise does have many advantages, strengthening body, making us have a lot of friends.
Body:
I. A series of volleyball match was held in our school, class competition.
A. I was pretty bad at playing ball say basketball and volleyball.
B. My friends invited me to form a class team.
II. All players started to have training.
A. Every school day, we started our training at 6:30 AM.; on weekend, we practiced 4 hours a day.
B. We learned to serve the ball, pass the ball, spike sets and block shots within 2 weeks.
III. Six matches we had in one week are great.
A. We beat those teams we played with at first.
B. In the finals, we had some tough time in games but we cooperated and used the power of teamwork at last.
C. We got a champion finally and had a celebration party.
Conclusion:
Due to playing volleyball, I started to like teamwork. We helped each other to keep a ball from falling on the ground; hence, we support each other and share the final honor together. It became one of my precious memories in school life.
