Audience Adaptation Plan
Speech Title: Say No to Bamboo Chopsticks!
1. Audience Attitude: I asked ten people about their attitudes toward bamboo chopsticks, and all of them knew their threatening effects, but only two people did not use them in practice. As I asked them why they still use bamboo chopsticks when they were acquainted with their disadvantages, most of them considered it troublesome to carry a pair of chopsticks with them, and they though that it did not matter a great deal. Worried about this negative tendency, I determined to contrive a speech to inform my audience of the terrible truth of their harmful effects and r persuade them not to use bamboo chopsticks any more.
2. Reason: There are two reasons for us to refuse to use bamboo chopsticks. The most essential problems of bamboo chopsticks are that they profoundly increase garbage and that they contain many toxic chemical substances that will jeopardize human health.
3. Selecting an organization to meet audience needs: At first, I am going to reflect my observation about the unworried attitude of people toward bamboo chopsticks. Then I will expose the astonishingly rough process of manufacturing to impress my audience and officially empirical evidences will be cited to support my arguments. Afterwards, I enumerate several organizations that are promoting this movement so as to kindle my audience to take immediate action. I am convinced that after my presentation my audience will feel it absolutely necessary to carry a pair of chopsticks with them.
Outline
Speech Goal: I hope people can carry a pair of chopsticks with them to avoid using disposable bamboo chopsticks.
Introduction:
I. According to Environmental Protection Administration, the daily consumption of bamboo chopsticks in Taiwan reaches almost 3 million pairs, and annually consumption is beyond 1 billion pairs.
II. Only two out of ten of my interviewees carry a pair of chopsticks with them, since they consider it to be troublesome.
Thesis Statement: There are two major reasons for us to stop using bamboo chopsticks, in that they deteriorate our environment as well as human health due to their rough producing process.
Body:
I. The consumption of bamboo chopsticks is a great threaten to our environment which has raised worldwide attention.
II. The procedure of producing bamboo chopsticks is surprisingly rough.
III. There are accumulating awareness among government and industry to promote the movement of refusing bamboo chopsticks.
Conclusion: Seeing such great costs we have to pay for using bamboo chopsticks, we should take immediate action to stop using them! And most of all, instead of relying on official promotion, we must try our best to practice this habit and propaganda this movement as wide as possible.

Adaptation Plan
Speaking directly to the audience: Throughout the speech, I will talk directly to the audience and use more concise language so that they can follow my directions with ease.
Building credibility: In the beginning I will relate my background with the topic, and then I will narrow down the sphere of the topic to explore certain points; therefore, the audience will pay more attention to my subsequent speech.
Getting and maintaining interest: At first, I will pose the rationale in the management of human resources that is parallel to my topic to attract their attention. With my follow-up, they will be interested in finding out the similarities between the two fields.
Facilitating understanding: By using visual aids, they can follow my speech step by step. In my visual aids I use the simplest phrases to express my ideas, and little pictures are used to reduce the possibility of disturbance. In the last part, I will reveal the references of my speech so that they can obtain further information.
Speech Outline
SPECIFIC SPEECH GOAL: I want to inform my audience of the simplest ways to nourish a potted plant.
INTRODUCTION:
I. Because my father is an amateur farmer, I have been immersed in his interest in gardening and taught some simple knowledge since a child.
II. The world of gardening is too profound to be explored in seven minutes, so I tend to focus my speech on how to nourish a potted plant.
THESIS STATEMENT: Three steps will lead the audience to know the notices when cultivating a potted plant, to learn the actions of human attention and then how to make organic fertilizer at home.
BODY:
I. There are four precautions to be emphasized before choosing a potted plant.
II. As for human attention, two major actions are involved.
III. It is beneficial to apply organic fertilizer to your plants, and it is east for you to make it at home.
CONCLUSION: Now that you know how to nourish a potted plant, you can take immediate action to change your surroundings without extravagant decoration. And you can obtain more information on the websites or by paying a visit to the flower markets in person.

1. How relevant will the audience find this material to be?
I want my audience to ponder what they acquired in their part-time job by offering my personal experience.
2. How can I make it easier for audience members to comprehend the information I will share?
I would like to reveal my practical duties to interest them.
3. What common ground do audience members share with each other and with me?
Most of my audiences have experience in part-time jobs and we can exchange our own reflection and harvests.
4. What I can do to enhance my credibility?
I am going to introduce to them my content of duties
5. What is my audience's initial attitude toward my speech topic likely to be?
They are familiar with my topic, so they may expect me to provide them with further information about it.
6. What language or culture differences do audience members have with each other and with me?
As English majors in Taiwan, we have few problems about cultural gap among classmates.
Speech Outline
Topic: My experience of working in McDonald's
Specific goal: I want my audience to ponder what they acquired in their part-time job.
Introduction: As we know, McDonald's has been known for its successful marketing.
Thesis statement: I'm going to reveal my two-year working experience in McDonald's and some valuable acquisition beyond the wage.
Body:
A. the initial stage of my part-time job
B. the further content of my duties after being promoted
Conclusion: This working experience not also further my outlook on service industry but refine my communicative capacity. Though the wage is not satisfying at all, there is something significant beyond the value of money.
