1. Speaking directly to members of the audience: I will speak to the audience directly. I will deliver my speech slowly so that every one can understand.
2. Building credibility: I will apply some specific statistics from magazines and on the Net. I also clipped the pages of Facebook form the Net. Furthermore, I myself is one of the members on Facebook.
3. Getting and maintaining interest: I think my audience would like my speech as they know what I will represent, because here in Taiwan, the Net is relatively accessible, and we all know that maintaining a good relationship with others is very important. Therefore, I consider Facebook to be an interesting topic that everyone likes.
4. Facilitating understanding: I will apply Microsoft Power Point to make my presentation clearer. And I will show the processes to utilize Facebook.
5. Increasing retention: I will use pictures to make my audience remember the points well. Moreover, I will repeat my points in my speech.

Body:
I. Facts about Facebook.
A. The founder, Mark Zuckerberg, according to Digital Times, the magazine.
B. Legends of Facebook.
C. The capital.
D. The amount of the registered users.
II. Safety.
A. According to the official website of Facebook, you can protect your information and profile from others you don't know.
B. You can lock your profile whenever you like.
III. Maintenance.
A. According to Jennifer Jones's son whose statement appearing in his mother's blog, you can maintain your relationship with those who you still get contact with now. Furthermore, I myself is a registered member on Facebook.
B. According to Fai Wong's own experience, you can also re-contact with your old friends.
IV. Expansion.
A. Within groups you join, you can make with those who have the same interests as you.
V. Economical fun.
A. Almost every item and gift is free.
B. All the pictures and programs are interesting.
Conclusion: Facebook is a platform where you can enhance or even explore harmonious relationship with others. In addition, you still can enjoy the safety as you use the communicative tool--only can your friends be accessible to your profile. Since Facebook is such an economical and protected social utility website, just begin to enjoy yourselves on Facebook.

Speaking directly to the audience: Throughout the speech, I will talk directly to the audience and use more concise language so that they can follow my directions with ease.
Building credibility: In the beginning I will relate my background with the topic, and then I will narrow down the sphere of the topic to explore certain points; therefore, the audience will pay more attention to my subsequent speech.
Getting and maintaining interest: At first, I will pose the rationale in the management of human resources that is parallel to my topic to attract their attention. With my follow-up, they will be interested in finding out the similarities between the two fields.
Facilitating understanding: By using visual aids, they can follow my speech step by step. In my visual aids I use the simplest phrases to express my ideas, and little pictures are used to reduce the possibility of disturbance. In the last part, I will reveal the references of my speech so that they can obtain further information.
Speech Outline
SPECIFIC SPEECH GOAL: I want to inform my audience of the simplest ways to nourish a potted plant.
INTRODUCTION:
I. Because my father is an amateur farmer, I have been immersed in his interest in gardening and taught some simple knowledge since a child.
II. The world of gardening is too profound to be explored in seven minutes, so I tend to focus my speech on how to nourish a potted plant.
THESIS STATEMENT: Three steps will lead the audience to know the notices when cultivating a potted plant, to learn the actions of human attention and then how to make organic fertilizer at home.
BODY:
I. There are four precautions to be emphasized before choosing a potted plant.
II. As for human attention, two major actions are involved.
III. It is beneficial to apply organic fertilizer to your plants, and it is east for you to make it at home.
CONCLUSION: Now that you know how to nourish a potted plant, you can take immediate action to change your surroundings without extravagant decoration. And you can obtain more information on the websites or by paying a visit to the flower markets in person.

Speaking directly to the audience: During my speech, I'll use rhetorical questions and personal pronouns to show that my audience that I am talking to them directly.
 
Building credibility: I'll show my member card of California fitness center and use my own experience to show that I have some knowledge of how to use most equipment in a gym. Besides, I am taking a course called Exercise and Health in our school.
 
Getting and maintaining interest: Males or females, everyone wants to keep fit or lose weight to look attractive or healthy and I will tell my audience how I lost weight in the past by working out in a gym.
 
Facilitating understanding: I'll present the information clearly, use transitions to clarify my points and show visual aids.
 
Increasing retention: Again, use of visual aids helps retention and I will also repetition to ensure that my audience can follow.
 
Speech Outline
SPECIFIC GOAL: I would like the audience to know how to use the equipment in a gym properly and that working out in a gym doesn't mean building up muscles but can help burn the calories through aerobic exercise and lose real weight.
 
INTRODUCTION
I.                    Do you think you can lose weight by eating less and exercising more?
II.                 Do you think working out in the gym means solely building up muscles?
III.               I am not a real personal trainer in a gym, but I have taken more than fifty classes from two personal trainers. Today I am going to share with you the experiences I had in the gym.
 
THESIS STATEMENT: How to efficiently and safely work out involves three processes—Warming up, weight training and cooling down.
 
BODY
I.                    The first process is to warm up your body to prevent injury.
A.     Do some stretch on your own or by means of a stretch machine.
B.     Do some aerobic exercise, such as jogging for more than five to ten minutes.
II.                 The second process is to do weight training.
A.     Adjust the seat to a proper height and use proper weight.
B.     Exhale while using strength and inhale while relaxing.
C.     Always keep you body straight whatever training you do.
D.     Keep you body or head lean on the seatback.
E.      Don't keep you arms or legs too straight to prevent injury.
F.      Don't forget you wipe your sweats after finishing using machines.
III.               The third process is to cool down your body.
A.     Do some stretch on your own or by means of a stretch machine to prevent sore muscles.
B.     Walking slowly on a jogging machine.
 
CONCLUSION
After listening to my presentation, I think my audience will know proper ways to work out and lose more weight.

Speech title: Learning the Guitar can be Easy and Fun

 

Adaptation Plan

1.      Speaking directly to the audience:

      I will demonstrate some basic ways of playing guitar and talk to my audience directly and slowly in my speech so that my audience can understand my speech.

2.      Building credibility:

From the start I will sing a song with my guitar to add my credibility. And then I will show my audience how to play this song step by step.      

3.      Getting and maintaining interest:

I will start my speech by showing my audience a song in order to arouse their curiosity. 

4.      Facilitating understanding:

I will use visual aids (power point) to let my audience identify the parts of the guitar. And I will bring my guitar and my pick to let my audience know better about the proper posture.  

5.      Increasing retention:

I will use some visual aids and my guitar to increase retention.

 

Speech Outline

Specific speech goal:

I want my audience not merely to have a basic understanding of playing guitar but enjoy the world of guitar as well.

Introduction:  

I going to show my audience some basics that they need to learn for playing the guitar in a short period of time.

    Thesis statement:

I want to bring my audience to the world of guitar and let them understand learning guitar can be easy and fun. By this speech, I want my audience know playing guitar can be fun and interesting.

   

Body:

I.            The first part is showing my audience to know the names of many parts of the guitar.

A. "Headstock"is a general term which describes the part of the guitar attached to the slimmer neck of the instrument.   

B.    On the headstock are"tuners", which we will use to adjust the pitch of each of the strings on the guitar.

C. At the point in which the headstock meets the neck of the guitar, we can find the "nut." 

D. The "neck" of the guitar is the area of the instrument we will concentrate a great deal on.

E. The neck of the guitar adjoins the "body" of the instrument, in which we will vary greatly from guitar to guitar.

F. "Sound hole" is designed to project the sound of the guitar.

 

II.                   I will show my audience how to hold a guitar.

A.  Get an armless chair, and take a seat.

B.  Pick up the guitar, and hold it so the back of the body of the instrument comes in contact with our chest, and the bottom of the neck runs parallel to the floor.

C. When playing the guitar sitting down, the body of the guitar will rest on one of our legs.

D. Concentrate on the hand that is close to the neck of the guitar.

III.          I will demonstrate how to hold a pick.

   A. Open the picking hand, and turn the palm to face us.

   B. Close our hands to make a very loose fist. The thumb should remain beside the index finger.

C. Rotate the hand until it is profile.

D. Be sure the pointed end of the pick is protruding by about a half an inch. Hold the pick firmly.

 

IV.                       I will demonstrate tree basic guitar chords to my audience.

A. Playing a chord involves using your pick to strike at least two notes (often more) on the guitar simultaneously.

B.  Playing a C major chord.

C. Playing a G major chord

D. Playing a D major chord

V.                          Show my audience how to play a simple song called "Hey Jude" by using G major, C major, and D major chords.

 

Conclusion

After showing some basic ways of playing the guitar, I believe my audience can know better about guitar and enjoy the world of guitar as well. Besides, instead of being bombarded by confusing material, my audience will be aroused interest by my step-by-step instructions. In a word, I want my audience to understand playing guitar can be as easy as trying their shoes. Everyone can play guitar!

Topic: The Kinds of Oysters
Adaptation Plan:

1. Speaking directly to members of the audience:
I will use personal pronouns and directly talk to the audience.
2. Building credibility:
As a resident of one of the biggest places of oyster production in Taiwan, I will provide my audience with my knowledge about oyster acquired during the process of growing up there and further information about oyster provide by one of my neighbors, who has cultured oyster for over than forty years.
3. Getting and maintaining interest:
I will point out the fact that most of my audience may had eaten oyster omelet, oyster thin noodle, and fried oyster these oyster cuisines, but they may not know actually the oysters in these cuisines are of different kinds to make my audience interested in my topic.
4. Facilitating understanding:
I'll use PowerPoint as visual aid which includes the main points I'm going to talk about and pictures to help my audience understand what I'm talking about, especially some jargons. And I will speak slowly and clearly as much as possible.
5. Increasing retention:
With PowerPoint including the main points and pictures, my audience can remember them easily.

Introduction:
I. Most of you must have eaten oyster omelet, oyster thin noodle, and fried oyster these oyster cuisines, but how many of you know that actually oysters in these cuisines are of different kinds?

A. Old oyster: over one year growth period before harvest.
B. Young oyster: three to four months growth period before harvest.
II. Kinds of oyster assorted by different culture ways and places in the sea.
A. Oysters in inland sea
1. Growth period- all the year round.
2. Harvest season- typhoon season.
3. Culture way- 插枝式
B. Oysters in outer sea
1. Growth period- November to May in the following year.
2. Harvest season- February to May, non-typhoon season.
3. Culture way- 浮棚式.
C. Heavy shell oyster
1. Called 殼蚵 in my hometown, so-called 生蠔in Chinese.
2. Growth period- at least three years.
D. Oysters in lagoon
Both growth period and harvest season are all the year round.
Conclusion:
After today's speech, I want you to know more about oyster and at least acquire basic knowledge about oyster.

1.          Speaking directly to the audience:
I will use personal pronouns and speak directly to my audience.

2.          Building credibility:
I will provide my own experience, and use some extra information, statistics

and some ways of choosing high heels to enhance my own credibility.

3.          Getting and maintaining interest:

     First, I will use question and answer's way to arise the audience's interest and attention. And then, I will provide some data to show women's desires for high heels.

4.          Facilitating understanding:

        I will demonstrate my own suitable high heels and use some high heels' pictures in my power point to explain some shoes' proper nouns so that the audience can understand what I am talking about.

5.           Increasing retention:

I will use some visual aids like special pictures and my own high heels to strengthen the three points of choosing a pair of high heels.

Specific Speech Goal:

           I want my audience to understand how to choose a pair of suitable high heels for themselves or for men's girl friends.

Introduction:

I.          Ask the audience whether they have ever heard a common saying about high heels or not.

II.         Provide some example to show that most women at least have a pair of high heels no matter whether they are shoes lover or not, but many women are annoyed with the pain caused by wearing high heels.

 

Thesis Statement:

I will tell the audience the three basic points and show some real ways to choose a pair of suitable high heels for themselves.

 

Body:

I.          The first point is the toecap of high heels.

A. Choose soft material.
 
B. Shoe last should accommodate the sole of foot.
 
C. Know the three types of toecap and realize which kind is suitable for you.
 
D. Provide my own unsuccessful experience to explain the concept that if the 

shoe last is too narrow, no matter which size you choose, it would never suitable for you.

II.          The second point is the shoe sole.

A. Choose the hard material carefully.

B. The thickness of shoe sole should be 2cm at least.

C. Provide a criterion to judge whether the shoe sole is thick enough or not.  

III.   The third point is the heel of the high heels

A.     The type of the heel.

1.      The wedge heel

2.      The thick heel

3.      The thin heel

B.     The height of the heel.

1.      The so-called perfect height of high heels is uncomfortable and harmful to the foot and vertebra.

2.      5cm is enough to beautify the body shape and much more reasonable.

Conclusion:
    
Many women buy high heels just for its beauty; however, I think a pair of high heels which not only has beautiful design but also can accommodate to your foot's is qualified to be called perfect high heels. So, I hope after the speech the audience can fine their own beautiful high heels.

Speech title: Berlin Bear

 

Adaptation Plan

 

1. Speaking directly to the audience:

  I will speak to my audience directly in plain English and without jargon. And I will

  use eye contact during the speech so that my audience can feel that I am speaking to them.

 

2. Building credibility:

  I will build by quoting sentences from the report. Most of all, I will site my sources in the end of the speech.

 

3. Getting and maintaining interest:

  To get interest from my audience, I will open my speech by dragging a common sense to a little known aspect. And I will use visual aids such like the colorful pictures to maintain interest.

 

4. Facilitating understanding:

  I will use visual aids to facilitate understanding. Because the bear I am going to introduce is very concrete, add some pictures of the bear will directly make my audience know what I am talking about.

 

5. Increasing retention:

  I think the colorful pictures are very helpful. By repeating my thesis statement, I think I can help my audience increase the retention of the bear.

I. The first appearance of Buddy Baer as Classic Buddy Bear

A. There are three types of the bear.

B. The initiators of this project (creating Buddy Bear) are Mr. and Mrs. Herlitz.

C. The goal of this project is to help children in need.

 

II. The United Buddy Bear

A. In 2002, Mr. and Mrs. Herlitz hold a unique global project to promote tolerance, understanding and peace of all nations.

B. The goal of the project is to collect donations for children in need too.

C. After being removed from the Brandenburg Gate, the bear started traveling the world.

III. Mini Buddy Bear

  A. In 2007, they made out mini Buddy Bear so that everyone can buy one and place it in their house.

  B. And you can design your own bear by ordering white mini bear.

 

Conclusion

Every time I saw the Buddy Bear I can't help but smile to them, and it is what the bear wants to tell us. This world always needs more love and unity. I think the Buddy Bear has made the world more colorful and delightful.
